Come Explore the Ancient Art of
Pigment Making!
Natural pigments are literally everywhere. They are colors of the earth; colors of soil, clay, plants, flowers, berries, trees and bark.
In this program, we will explore the colors of the land around us while taking a short hike on campus to explore the natural hues of local rocks, soil, and foliage of our area. We will learn how early men (and women) created art by utilizing the minerals & elements of the earth around them to create pigments.
Girls will actively engage in using natural resources to create homemade watercolors that they will use to make their own sustainable art project to take home.
Please dress suitably for a short hike and in clothes that can get dirty.
