Sweet Briar Dance Scholarship

Dear future Sweet Briar student,

Thank you for your interest in the Sweet Briar College Dance Scholarship. One of the primary goals of the dance program here at Sweet Briar is to help students find and hone their unique choreographic voice. Our program is one that invites students from a variety of dance backgrounds and movement interests, and one that encourages student choreographers to pull movement inspiration from far beyond the technique learned in the studio. In creating your 1-3 minutes of material for this application, I extend this same invitation and challenge to you: consider movement beyond the steps that you have learned in dance technique classes, to look for movement inspiration in new or unlikely places, and to create a movement solo that is authentically yours.
